• Volunteers providing Clients with a new friendship at a time when many of their peers are disappearing from their lives. As many of our Volunteers are themselves Seniors, the benefits are definitely mutual.

• Friendly personal contact and assistance in helping people manage the challenges that come with aging and diminishing personal networks.


• Human warmth and understanding into the lives of their telephone friend, who otherwise might have no one to talk to.


• Information to seniors to support and encourage them in maintaining an autonomous and dignified way of life.

• Volunteers establish and maintain telephone-friendships with one or more 'telephone friends' (Clients)


• Clients (and Volunteers) are invited to participate in a variety of social activities, either hosted by NTVS or others


• Our phone is answered after-hours by one of our Volunteers who takes forwarded calls.


• We assist both Clients and Volunteers by providing a variety of resource information to assist in answering many of the 'How do I?' questions


• Home visits to Clients by Program Coordinator for Assessment and if required once a 'match' is made with a Volunteer


• Regular Outings and special Events.
